Project overview
After an EICR on a newly bought house, the recommendations were carried out: new sockets in every room, new cooker and boiler circuits, a new fuse board and replacement fire alarms.
This project was carried out by our partner electrician, G&M Electrics Ltd. We've written it up from what the customer said in their review, which is quoted in full below.
The job
What the customer needed
The customer had an EICR carried out on a house they had recently bought. Its safety recommendations then shaped a larger programme of wiring work.
What was done
- Carried out the initial EICR and explained the recommendations
- Visited about two weeks before starting to agree access and socket positions
- Added wall sockets to each room
- Installed additional circuits for the cooker and boiler
- Replaced the fuse board
- Swapped the fire alarms
- Sent daily updates throughout the job
“I initially had Gavin do an EICr on a house in had recently bought, which he did perfectly. Following that excellent experience, I hired him back to do a serious bit of wiring, adding wall sockets to each room, additional circuits for the cooker and boiler, changing the fuse board and swapping the fire alarms, a job list that was informed by the safety recommendations made in the EICr and explained by Gavin so well. He came over about 2 weeks before starting the job, at my request, to talk through what he would need in terms of access, make sure socket positions would be suitable, etc. He was flexible with his start date to suit my needs, which I was appreciative of. The work itself has been done to an excellent level of quality, he was efficient, punctual, clean and tidy, kept in touch with me and provided daily updates, and its been all round the ideal experience. I'll recommend him to anyone needing an electrician, and hire him back if I need anything else done! 10/10, couldn't ask for better.”
About this type of work
An EICR lists defects and improvements in order of urgency, which makes it a practical plan for upgrade work. Doing the recommended work in one planned job is usually quicker and less disruptive than piecemeal repairs.
