Project overview
An EV charger was fitted at a bungalow where the electricity meter sat inside an extension on the opposite side of the property to the driveway, roughly 10 metres away.
This project was carried out by our partner electrician, G&M Electrics Ltd. We've written it up from what the customer said in their review, which is quoted in full below.
The job
What the customer needed
The customer wanted a home EV charger, but it was not a straightforward job. Their electricity meter was on the other side of the bungalow from the drive, inside an extension, about 10 metres from where the charger needed to go.
What was done
- Installed a home EV charger by the driveway
- Ran the supply roughly 10 metres from the meter position, which sat inside an extension on the far side of the bungalow

About this type of work
The distance between the meter and the parking space is one of the biggest factors in an EV charger installation. A longer run needs a correctly sized cable and a sensible route, and every home charger installation in the UK must be notified to the local distribution network operator.
