Another electrician had said the house needed a full rewire because of constant tripping. The consumer unit was replaced, the real fault was found, and the customer avoided the cost of a rewire.

About this type of work
Constant tripping usually points to a specific fault, such as an appliance, a damaged cable or moisture in an accessory. It does not always mean the whole house needs rewiring. Methodical fault finding with insulation resistance testing tracks the cause down before anyone recommends major work.
